It is with great pleasure that I get to announce, that “The Lady’s Guide: Lead, Love Learn” just completed season 1! I do not think it has set in yet for me fully, this project was something very close to my heart.
For those of you that may not know, earlier this year I launched a web talk show centered around women’s empowerment. The mission for the show, is to join others in the fight for gender equality and to provide a platform for women to discuss the tough issues that we face everyday. I wanted to create a movement and a sisterhood, where women can come together to support, empower, and love each other!
I am directing and producing this project as well as co-hosting, it’s been a crazy journey! I am “sharing the stage” with Tamiko Lowry-Pugh and Talia N. Hill, who each have incredible stories in their own right and make me so proud to say that I know them. When I decided I was going forward with this project, I called them both out of the blue, asked them to support me in my dream to create this show, and they joined without hesitation. I am eternally grateful for them, as they have been a pivotal piece to the show, and I am positive I could have done it without them.
It has been amazing to see, how many people gladly supported me through this process. Our makeup artist Patricia Staines, who always accommodated us. The owner of The Wombtique, Ms. Tanya Smart for letting us turn her business into a TV studio. The various crew members that helped me film the show. This really was a team effort, and I am beyond words at the support I have received.
Not only that, the positive feedback we have received from viewers has been amazing! It really goes to show, that when you do something good for the world, good things come back to you!
I learned so many lessons while working on this project, the one thing I would like to talk about today is the concept of starting before you are ready! Recently, I listened to some audio files from a female entrepreneur/life coach. She was giving tips on how to be better in your business and continue to grow it. In the audio files, she spent a great deal speaking about starting before you are ready. This really resonated with me.
I used to be the type of person that never moved on an idea until I felt I was ready. This ultimately led to me taking forever to put certain ideas into motion or I never did them at all. When it came to The Lady’s Guide, I was actually pushed into launching it WELL before I anticipated and I see the difference it has made in my life.
I see now how important it is to not get caught up in being 100% ready when you are going for your dreams. There is nothing wrong with strategy, but often times we get caught up in that and never actually get anything done. By starting when you are not ready, you learn faster, you open yourself up to possibilities and most importantly, you actually start! It will no longer remain a dream, it will become a reality and that will propel you forward.
Everything did not go as planned during the filming of the season, but nothing ever does. I am so proud that we finished it, that the end product is real and tangible and WONDERFUL. As we move forward to planning our summer event and season 2, I know that we can only continue to get better and more exciting opportunities will come our way. Stay tuned for season 2!
